How does the precision requirement of automobile fixture customization affect the service life of fixture?

The precision requirement of automobile inspection fixture customization will directly affect the wear speed and stability decay period of inspection fixture through three core links: material selection, structural design and processing technology, and finally determine its service life. The higher the accuracy requirement, the higher the durability design requirement of the fixture. If it is not matched properly, the service life may be shortened.

First, the core logic of accuracy requirements affecting service life

Accuracy requirements indirectly determine the service life of the fixture through the following three levels. The two are not simply "the higher the accuracy, the shorter the life", but "the higher the matching degree between accuracy and durability design, the longer the life".

Material level: High-hardness and high-wear resistance materials (such as hardened steel and cemented carbide) are usually mandatory for high-precision requirements. These materials have strong wear resistance, which can delay the precision attenuation after long-term use and directly extend the service life.

Structural level: The core measuring parts of high-precision gauges (such as locating pins and measuring surfaces) often need more complex protective structures (such as dust cover and wear-resistant coating), which can reduce external damage and daily wear and tear and further prolong service life.

Technological level: High-precision machining (such as precision grinding and vacuum heat treatment) can improve the surface smoothness and internal structure stability of the fixture, reduce the accuracy failure caused by stress and deformation in use, and thus extend the effective service cycle.

Second, the life difference and coping strategies under different precision requirements

There are obvious differences in the service life of checking fixtures with different accuracy levels, so it is necessary to design them specifically to balance accuracy and durability.

Precision Requirements Level Typical Application Scenarios Expected Service Life (under routine maintenance) Key Life Assurance Measures

High-precision engine core components (such as crankshaft) 3-5 years 1. Adopt cemented carbide or quenched steel above HRC60;

2. Hard chromium plating (thickness 5-10μ m) on the core;

3. Equipped with special storage tools to avoid bumping.

Medium-precision body structure (such as door frame) 5-8 years 1. Choose 45 steel (quenched HRC 45-50);

2. Fine grinding the measuring surface;

3. Clean and calibrate regularly (every 3 months).

Low-precision non-critical plastic parts (such as interior buckles) 8-10 years 1. Choose aluminum alloy or high-quality engineering plastics;

2. Simplify the structure to reduce vulnerable parts;

3. Simply clean it after daily use.

Three, to avoid the imbalance between accuracy requirements and life, the key points for attention

If we only pay attention to the accuracy and ignore the durability design, it may lead to "high accuracy but short life" of the fixture and increase the long-term cost. Need to pay attention to the following three points:

Reject excessive pursuit of accuracy: set the accuracy of the checking fixture according to the actual functional requirements of the parts, and do not need to increase the accuracy for non-critical dimensions, so as to avoid shortening the service life due to brittle materials and complicated structures.

Strengthen the design of vulnerable parts: the easily worn parts such as locating pins and measuring probes of high-precision inspection tools should adopt replaceable structures. After wear, only the parts need to be replaced instead of the whole inspection tool, thus prolonging the overall service life.

Make an adaptive maintenance plan: high-precision inspection tools need more frequent calibration and more detailed maintenance (such as weekly cleaning and monthly calibration), while low-precision inspection tools can appropriately relax the maintenance frequency, and maximize the service life by scientifically maintaining the accuracy requirements.
